At Houzn Jiu Jitsu, we have programs that make learning easier and faster. Our approach focuses on your overall well-being, including your mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual health. By following our methods, you will gain clarity, build connections, and uncover your strengths.
FUNDAMENTALS
The Fundamentals of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu teaches that size doesn't matter for self-defense. Understanding leverage, body awareness, and targeting vulnerable areas of the body can help anyone defeat a bigger opponent. This class introduces the principles of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to lay a strong foundation for a lifelong connection to the art.
The Fundamentals Program is a 60-hour curriculum that focuses on simple techniques and positional sparring to build a solid base. It prepares students for the next level by teaching necessary skills and mental strength.
INTERMEDIATE
Our mid-level program is for those who have completed the Fundamentals and also experienced students who prefer lighter training sessions. The curriculum focuses on less complex techniques and includes live sparring at the end of class.
Through regular practice, students will improve their physical conditioning, reflexes, and timing, which will help them transition between techniques more smoothly.
ADVANCED
At this program, we mainly focus on Sports Jiu Jitsu. Before learning advanced techniques, students are expected to be good at the basics. Advanced classes are 1 hour and 30 minutes in length and aim to improve the student's physical fitness and mental toughness. During these classes, students get more time for sparring and also learn how to develop a strategy. As an advanced student, it's not just about mastering technical skills, but also demonstrating qualities like bravery, respect, and self-discipline in order to progress in rank.
NOGI
The objective in submission grappling is to submit your opponent using a variety of joint locks and chokes. This exciting modality combines the intricate techniques of Jiu Jitsu with dynamic Wrestling takedowns, creating a highly effective and engaging sport. Adding the element of Wrestling takedowns brings a new dimension to submission grappling, allowing practitioners to master both ground techniques and explosive takedowns. However, it's important to note that prior experience in Wrestling is not necessary to participate in submission grappling. At Houzn Jiu Jitsu, we offer a comprehensive Fundamentals Program for students to learn the essential techniques and principles before venturing into our NoGi classes. This ensures that all students have a solid foundation and can safely and confidently progress in their grappling journey.
